Beyza Gökgül Şimşek: Hello, welcome. I graduated from Yeni Yüzyıl University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Architecture with a scholarship. I have worked in various offices and construction sites since my student years. At school, everything is theoretical, so I cared a lot about practice. Therefore, people should pay more attention to the field so that they can make more efficient and easily applicable drawings.

Ahmet Reha Gökgül: I completed my undergraduate education at Atılım University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Designer, with a full scholarship and as the top student of the department. With my interest in interior architecture, we continue to develop ourselves by constantly improving ourselves with a different perspective, different solutions and constantly improving myself, creating innovative and solution-oriented designs that are not only connected to their traditional cultures, but also to the future.

‘WE STARTED THE DESIGN PROCESS WITH TWO PARTNERS’

– As Yel Architecture, you have been serving Alanya for many years. Can you talk about the establishment stages of the company?

Yel architecture was founded with two partners and started its design adventure, continued with interior architecture, architecture, 3D visualization, furniture design, personal solutions, and with the construction and real estate investment companies that it has worked with as a solution partner, it has many projects, especially residence, mass housing and office projects. continues its architectural and interior design works within the framework of cooperation and trust.

-You are a family business. Do you see this as an advantage in your achievements?

Yes, of course it has an effect. It is important that you do not stay behind, we are a team with our colleagues and solution partners, success comes in any work done in harmony, by embracing and loving the job.

‘JOB PROGRAM DEPENDS ON NEEDS, REQUESTS AND CRITERIA’

-How do you ensure coordination as a team when a project is received?

The work program is made according to the determined needs, requests and criteria. Coordination is ensured by sharing project implementation and work schedule with our colleagues and solution partners. Coordination here is hidden in being a team. The more cohesive you are, the more comfortable and enjoyable the team-work coordination will be.

-What are your criteria when starting a project?

From the design story of the project to the last point of the implementation, on the one hand, we take care to preserve the concept integrity formed with fine details, on the other hand, determining the function according to the needs, giving importance to the environmental factors as well as the quality of the space, incorporating technology and current innovations into the design in this sense, within the framework of the determined cost calculations. to complete the project.

‘EVERY PROJECT HAS ITS OWN LANGUAGE’

-Do you use an architectural signature when you complete your projects?

It is our priority to make designs that do not repeat each other and taste the concept spirit. Every project has its own unique design language. We try to pay attention to the architectural line together with the design language.

‘EVERY REGION NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED INSIDE’

-How do you evaluate the architecture of Alanya and the work done in this area as an architect?

In fact, each region should be evaluated on its own. There should be structures that are suitable for the city plan, meet the needs, are compatible with the environment, bear the traces of past cultures, and adapt to the modern age. Compared to the old reinforced concrete structures, the current structures are better in terms of aesthetics and architecture. Technology and living standards, needs and wishes that develop day by day are also effective in design and work.

‘DESIGN LANGUAGE MUST PROVIDE INTEGRITY’

-What is a must for you in an architectural work?

It is important that it meets the identified needs and is functional. However, it provides design language and integrity.

‘RENOVATION AND RESTORATION PROJECTS CONTINUE’

Restoration works accelerated in Alanya, especially in the castle area. The buildings are adapted to the present without losing the historical ‘Alanya House’ texture. Can houses in this old texture be worked on only for restoration or can such a planning be done on an empty land?

Houses under protection, which we can see in the Kale region and neighborhoods of Alanya, are boutique hotels, restaurants, residences, etc. used as. Renovation and restoration projects continue without disturbing the historical texture. No need to go very far. It has been brought to tourism with the structures and usage patterns in the Kale İçi region in our Antalya province.

‘ALANYA WILL ADD VALUE WITH AN EXAMPLE PROJECT’

The structures in the castle area of ​​Alanya have also started to be brought into tourism. Those used as residences offer a visual feast with their renewed historical texture. Walking paths have become more valuable with the restoration of historical buildings and opening them into service. It will be appreciated even more. It is possible to build structures in the architectural and style of Alanya on empty lands, for example, when Bodrum is mentioned, we think of white houses with blue windows. Why not for Alanya? It is possible to create structures unique to Alanya by combining the concept, design language, Alanya history, culture and today’s modern architecture. For example, firstly, an urban transformation project will be implemented on an island basis in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi. It will add even more value to our city with an exemplary project for Alanya. Structures that we can call Alanya houses can be built in a way that will leave a trace for today and future generations.

‘WE SHOULD EVALUATE A FEW TOPICS’

-Do you have any suggestions for architectural works in Alanya?

Architectural studies should be evaluated under several headings. It is a long subject, but we can briefly say that: Due to the aesthetics and needs we see, parking problems, roof types in terms of aesthetics, the appearance of solar energy heating systems (water tank)… In places where it is not possible to solve the parking lot, a closed parking lot should be required in the basement floors. We have mentioned about the roof types of Alanya houses, and it should be dealt with firstly in the regional and then in the whole. If we make it obligatory to make the water tanks and panels for the hot water need by using solar energy hidden inside the roof, it may be possible to fix it aesthetically in the next buildings. While doing this, it is important to improve the conditions and make the necessary adjustments in the regulations.
